Hi all,

When I lived in Baton Rouge in 1987, there was a weatherman there who
was also a good cook and, in fact, wrote a cookbook. Sometimes he
cooked a dish on TV and when he sampled it he exclaimed a French
phrase which roughly translated means, "Damn, that's good."

Anybody remember this guy? I'm trying to recall the French phrase he
used. Any help appreciated.

Your probably thinking about Vernon Roger, he committed suicide a few
years ago. The best I can remember his saying was, Mais Ca C'est bon
gout oui. I think thats right but I'm not positive. I hope I spelled
that right, I'm not an expert in French.

Here's a link about his death. Jim

I always thought he was a newsman...

His mother lives 2 doors up from me, her other son across the street
from her...

I don't remember why/who but: "faz-a-show" comes to mind...

I think your right, I don't remember him doing the weather. I can hear
him saying his little saying but I can't quite remember it. My wife
seems to think it was "Tonner mais ca c'est bon oui". That doesn't
quite make since to me since" tonner" is thunder. I didn't realize he
was from Eunice, I remember being kind of shocked when I heard how he
died.

Darrel I didn't realize he was from Eunice
Her son Earl and his wife both work as election commissioners for our
ward, don't really get to talk much with each other beyond that. Well
'cept when I harvest my grapes, when I offer them a tray full...

I haven't visited with his mother in awhile, my wife fixes goodies for
her from time to time and drops in for a visit, she has a sitter round
the clock now. Last time I was there was to offer my cordless phone when
her line got cut, by my backyard neighbor...

The Baton Rouge stations (WBRZ/WAFB) were a pain to get (need height,
lots of height, 66 miles nautical) until cabletv arrived, 2 was the
worst for ground static. Neither programs much in the way of
news/weather/sports for this area...
