Post by Darrel ToepferPost by rizHow did our cousins make out with this terrible storm?
Lots of refugees here in Eunice being housed in homes, churches and
elsewheres... Top winds here were 30 mph and no measurable rain, but
we're 126+ nautical miles west of Lakefront airport in New Orleans...
My family left NO and headed to Marksville before the storm. All of
mine and the wife's family are accounted for by the family except 2;
one is a high ranking police officer in Metairie and the other is a
patrolman in NO. And we have a pretty good idea why we haven't heard
from them, so we aren't worried. Yet.
Saw a couple of twisters on the prairie, but no serious damage. Lost
power and phones for a few minutes, but again nothing serious.
Marksville in round numbers is maybe 200 miles or so as the birds fly
NW of NO in Avoyelles Parish, for those of you from out of the area.
Hope everyone continues to be safe. The Levee Broke at NO after
Katrina passed (Big surprise, yeah?) and flooded the city, and it's
still dangerous out there. The idiots are looting NO. Maybe Blanco
will tell the troops to shoot to kill! (Naaaa....Never happen!)
See Ya!
