there was a plaque on an esplanade in new orleans i saw, as i walked to
new orleans library. also daddy told me..(he was b. 1897 morgan city,
likey knew, 1st hand, from kids around home)..i know that's why he moved
us to galveston .and me with no French.... as i've said before, me with
no french, is due to his proteting me when i started school...

Being punished by the local teacher is not the same thing as "USA made it unlawful." There is no evidence that the federal government passed a law to prohibit the speaking of French in public schools.

This is still not evidence of the US forbidding children to speak French in Louisiana schools. These were state laws enacted by Louisianians against fellow Louisianians. Which brings up an interesting point. If Warren Perrin can obtain an apology from the current British Monarch who isn't even a blood relative of the monarch that presided over the Acadian Expulsion, will he also take the next step and go to the blood realtives of those who Louisianinans who enacted the 1916 School Act and 1921 Constitution and seek an apology?

Big deal!!So we don't speak French in Louisiana.We are American,are we
not?When we came here from Canada it was for a better way of life.Let
us leave behind all the old ways,and live a new life.Yes they say
French is taught in public schools in Louisiana,but after school,on the
streets,who speaks French?I am 60 years old and speak the French my
parents taught me as a child.My wife and 19 year old daughter speaks no
French.So I have no one to practice my French with.Not even in
public!It goes months at a time when I don't speak French at all.I know
that after all the Cajuns my age are all dead and gone the only French
that will be spoken in select groups will be Standard French from
France or Canada.I think in my opinion ,that the only ones who benifit
from teaching French in Louisiana are the French teachers from French
speaking countries.If we have to speak a language other than English
,it should be Spanish!There are more Mexicans in Louisiana than French
Cajuns.Why not learn a useful language?There is no useful purpose for
any child to learn French in Louisiana!Lets stop wasting money on
paying French teachers,and use that money for hurricane protection!
