We went to Nova Scotia (a little town called Antigonish?) for the gathering
of the clans in the 70's. I fell in love with bagpipes and kilts. I never
had so many Goosebumps go up and down my arms..I really would love to hear
Jock and his band in person.

How's everything in your neck of the world?

Grandson went to his senior prom this past Saturday, Granddaughter decided
at the last minute to work instead. Can't believe that they are getting
ready to spread their wings and fly.. and speaking of flying..how cool is
that..restoring a plane. I hope you take some *in progress* pictures and
share with us?

Its gonna happen pretty fast, so I'll probably setup a timelapse camera...

Actually it'll look just like this again, just new skin, paint, struts,
wheels, brakes, wiring, windshield and a bunch of bolts and nuts...

Right now the skin is off and its in lots of peices...

Student (just need to take my test and do the checkride, need a plane
for that), my dad is though, he bought and sold three planes since 2003.
He's helping with this ones restoration, he hasn't reskinned one since
the '50's though. Its my first plane, I think I wanna hold onto it
longer than he does his. He's always traded up, I think he bought his
first Piper back in the '50's for $300.00. Mine has 4 seats, decent
speed, economical and a backseat door for physically challenged
people...

http://www.whodat.net/n2342a We picked it up 80 miles south of Tampa
and flew back to Eunice area (couldn't land in Eunice because it was
completely fogged in) in less than 7 hours and 3 fuel stops. Writeup
covered the flight in the Short Wings publication. Hanger we secured
yesterday actually faces where this one was stored. We've been waiting
for a promised opening for over 5 months. This plane had amazing Short
Takeoff and Landing abilities (STOL). Mines 1 year younger and 15hp
less, but lighter because its all fabric, this one had a modification
STC which skinned the wings and fuselage with aluminum back in the
60's...

http://www.whodat.net/n714yz Was next, second plane I soloed in...

http://www.whodat.net/n8496u Was his last one, 4th plane I soloed in...

I hope your 55 year old plane is in far better shape than my 55 year
old body was. (g)

Now that my body is almost 60, it's probably in the best shape it's
been in since I was in my mid 30s, but even that that ain't sayin' a
whole lot. I surely wouldn't want to try flying it.

The military is even flying some old stuff too, about 3 years older. Sofar
mine's in better shape since its been hangered all its life, the B52's had
corrosion problems due to water leakes into the windshield frames. I'm only
the 3rd owner...
